Research on Evolutionary Economics Rewarded with 100 000 Euros

The 2015 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research is awarded to Professor Sidney Winter, Deloitte and Touche Professor Emeritus of Management at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Global Award is the leading international award in entrepreneurship research with a prize amount of 100 000 Euros. Professor Winter is awarded for his profound understanding of dynamic competition, how a company’s ability to assimilate innovations creates various technological opportunities and the mechanisms driving competence building in firms.

Professor Winter has had an outstanding impact on entrepreneurship research within three distinct fields:

  1. The understanding of how technological changes within firms are related to organizational routines and renewal.
  2. Empirical and theoretical analysis of how and why firms can assimilate innovations and how this differs between industries
  3. How firms develop dynamic capabilities.- “His work has impacted our understanding of the phenomena of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship research, management, economics as well as technology and innovation management”, says Prof Charlie Karlsson, Jönköping International Business School and Chairman of the Price Committee.

In addition, Professor Winter has taken an active role in shaping the international scholarly community, through contributions such as journal editorships, PhD training, and public policy.
