The first annual Stockholm Philanthropy Symposium will be held on May 30, 2012 at Fotografiska, Stockholm.
Come together at Fotografiska for our full day symposium on the emerging union of philanthropy and entrepreneurship. We will explore what can be done to boost philanthropic engagement in Sweden. While the initial motivation comes from the individuals themselves, the legal and tax framework has a determining role to play in the giving process. How can this framework be improved? How are philanthropic habits evolving? What are the expectations and roles of private donors today? In addition, we will discuss the needs and challenges of the beneficiary organizations.
You will hear from a line-up of distinguished speakers, such as: Gerry Salole, Director, European Foundation Center; Laurent Leksell, Chairman, Stockholms Stadsmission; Tonika Hirdman, Director General, Fondation de Luxembourg; David Carrington, International Independent Consultant; Per Josefsson, Co-Founder, Brummer & Partners; Anne Holm Rannaleet, European Venture Philanthropy Assoc.; Pontus Braunerhjelm, Managing Director Entreprenörskapsforum, Professor of Economics at KTH; Tove Lifvendahl, Senior Fellow at Independent Think Tank Fores; Matthew Bishop, Author, Chief Business Writer, The Economist; Mikael Horal, Director, Development Office, Karolinska Institutet
Participants will discuss the state of play in Sweden, best European practices, Swedish legislative and tax issues, and hear from professionals serving donors and their needs. The symposium will be conducted in both English and Swedish.
